L&S Custom Tailors is located at 138 East 61st Street; we are proud to be New York City’s favorite custom tailors for more than 40 years.
Owner and Master tailor Salvatore Cristiano fell in love with tailoring at the age of 12, when he was taught the skill in his small town of Montelepre in Sicily, Italy.
The Idea of taking basic fabric and turning it into beautiful clothing spoke to Salvatore’s soul and when he moved to New York at the age of 16, he was ready to begin working. By 20, he had opened L&S Custom Tailors at the same Upper East Side location we currently inhabit.
Much has changed in the past 41 years. For example, when L&S Custom Tailors first opened, it occupied just 400 square feet and now we have a larger facility with 9 tailors.
In the beginning, we only offered alterations and repairs. Now L & S offers a full menu of services, including a wide range of custom and unique ideas.
L&S produces the finest tailor-made clothing ranging from custom suits, custom shirts, outwear, formal wear, topcoats, skirts, dresses and accessories.
Salvatore never believed in advertising and instead relied on word-of-mouth referrals, which he believes are the best kind. Today, his son Carl Cristiano runs the day-to-day operations of the business. He manages everything from customer fittings to order preparation and supervision, all the way through to completion of garments.
Styles change, but our clientele has remained faithfully devoted. This is the highest compliment we can hope to achieve.
