Off the rack vs. Made to Measure

When it comes to buying the best suit for you comes down to cost. Buying off the rack is the most economical route to take, but it is possible to find tailored suits for affordable prices, but is there really that much of a difference between the two?

Off the rack garments are just that, designed to a size and with specific fabrics, but this does not mean they lack quality. Far from it, although you can find very cheap, and lower quality, off the rack wear, you can also find incredibly well made garments in high quality materials with reasonable costs. However, an off the rack garment may be the right size, but we as human beings are not uniform in size, and while a specific size will fit reasonably well, there are always aspects that are not quite right. This can be a slightly short or long arm, inside leg or shoulder to shoulder, not really noticeable day to day, but as the wearer, you know it is there.

Made to measure eliminates this, the suit or garment is designed for your body, so the arms, inside leg, shoulder to shoulder and every other measurement is not just ‘about right’, it is right. This means that the made to measure garment fits perfectly, and it looks that it does too. The way the garment hangs, everything about the fit will be superior, and obvious to the wearer and anyone who sees it. It’s not just about the way it looks either, a made to measure will be a more comfortable garment to wear because its designed to fit your body properly, and that can be really important for something you wear daily.

Which route you choose depends on budget, time and availability, but with modern techniques, made to measure can offer great value for money and the benefits really are worth considering. Nothing looks as good as a well-tailored garment designed for you, it fits like nothing else does, and is definitely something everyone should consider.
